Despite, admittedly, having not much experience in that arena, I like to think myself a romantic.
Which is why the Singapore Craigslist community is a constant disappointment. The Missed Connections section is a wasteland, averaging maybe 3 posts a week, and the M4W/W4M/etc lists are mostly foreigners looking for a good lay. It makes me feel very much like this guy, who so aptly puts it - “I go to the park. I shop at places. I walk around. I wear shoes. I have ear phones. I drink stuff. Where’s my missed connection? Start missing me already, goddamnit. I am very easy to miss.”
It seems like everyone else here is too busy rushing to work or grinding in clubs or playing handheld games on trains to enjoy the simple romanticism about falling a little in love with the stranger across from them in the bus and believing in the whole connections/chance/posting-on-the-interwebz-about-it-isn’t-creepy-at-all thing.
So you know what? When I have the time, I will write a long rambling W4M post and see what comes my way. Cynics be damned.
